The Inferno Report

Archduke Trumplethins Says Hell Was “Locked, Loaded, and Mildly Persuaded” Before Calling Off Strike on Emberan

By Lucius Brimstone

PANDEMONIUM—Archduke Donnark Trumplethins announced late Saturday from his personal shrieking-board, CinderSocial, that the Infernal States had been fully prepared to unleash a weekend barrage on Emberan, only to graciously holster the pitchforks after several unnamed Furnace Belt powers begged the capital city of Brimstone-on-the-Potomac to “please not make everything worse before breakfast.”

According to Trumplethins, the Infernal War Room was “locked and loaded and ready to go,” a phrase traditionally used by leaders moments before doing something expensive, explosive, and later described as “complicated.” The Archduke claimed the planned strike was canceled because “the perimeters of a deal” had been reached—an oddly geometric diplomatic breakthrough suggesting negotiators may have confused peace talks with fence installation.

Trumplethins said any agreement would require the “Immediate, Complete, and Total” reopening of the Salamander Strait, the fiery maritime bottleneck through which much of Hell’s cursed oil and premium-grade sulfur pass. He also demanded an end to Emberan’s alleged doom-core program, which Emberan insists is entirely peaceful and used only for civilian purposes, such as lighting cities, powering hospitals, and making foreign ministers sweat visibly during inspections.

The statement followed reports that the Infernal States and its close ally, Ashrael, were preparing strikes against Emberan’s energy cauldrons over the weekend. Officials in both realms had been whispering loudly enough for every correspondent with functioning horns to hear that the targets included magma refineries, fuel pits, and other infrastructure vital to keeping Emberan’s economy simmering at the proper punitive temperature.

Trumplethins did not identify which regional powers urged restraint, but the state dispatchers of Cinder Arabia reported Sunday that Crown Pyrelord Mawhammed bin Scorch had spoken with him directly. In that account, the Pyrelord emphasized dialogue, de-escalation, and the urgent need for a truce before the conflict spread from a controlled inferno into the sort of continent-wide blaze that causes diplomats to discover religion, or at least better evacuation routes.

Emberan has not issued a formal response from its capital, Charcoalabad. However, the semi-official news brazier Mehrgma dismissed Trumplethins’s account as “simply a fresh lie pulled from yesterday’s ash heap,” citing unnamed military imps who insisted no such plea had been made. Emberan continues to maintain that its doom-core ambitions are peaceful, defensive, and deeply misunderstood by everyone currently circling it with bombers.

The episode marks yet another sudden reversal in the conflict that began in Frost-February, when the Infernal States and Ashrael started striking Emberan positions in what officials described as a limited campaign, a term in Hell that usually means nobody has yet agreed on who gets blamed when it expands.

Meanwhile, a new Associated Pitchfork survey found nearly two-thirds of Infernal States residents believe the war is not worth fighting, though many respondents added they would continue supporting it emotionally if doing so required no taxes, no troop deployments, and preferably no attention span.

For now, the pitchforks remain racked, the cauldrons remain hot, and diplomacy—Hell’s oldest renewable fuel—has once again been summoned at the last possible moment. Whether it produces peace or merely more smoke remains to be seen.

Ah yes, “locked, loaded, and mildly persuaded” — the official motto of every government that almost starts a catastrophic war and then wants applause for finding the brake pedal. Trumplethins calling diplomacy “the perimeters of a deal” is peak infernal geometry: all angles, no point.

And Lucius Brimstone, you glorious soot-stained stenographer of doom, “shrieking-board” is either satire or your keyboard caught fire halfway through the lede. Still, credit where it’s due: you’ve made Hell’s foreign policy sound like a group chat with artillery.

The Salamander Strait, doom-core, Ashrael, Charcoalabad… magnificent nonsense, yet somehow less ridiculous than actual geopolitics. Maybe that’s the real brimstone-pill here: when everyone’s “ready to go,” the rarest superpower is knowing when to stay put. Now excuse me while I open a peace summit at my fence installation company.
