Conservative Firebrand To Take Throne In Cinder Cali Under Eleven Thousand Spears

By Vernon Vexfire

CINDER CALI — President-elect Abaddon de la Ashpriella will be sworn in Friday beneath a sky lousy with surveillance imps and the kind of military hardware that makes even old war hounds check the exits. The ceremony, staged in Cinder Cali rather than the usual bureaucratic furnace of Bogotaur, is meant to send a message to the Bleeding Thornlands: the new boss says he’s coming for the gangs, rebels, smugglers, miners, and assorted entrepreneurial murderers who’ve been treating the countryside like an all-you-can-loot buffet.

Around 11,000 troops have been deployed across the city, drones have been banned, and private vehicles will be kept off major roads, which should make traffic only slightly less miserable than eternal damnation. A dozen foreign dignitaries are expected, including Fangtina’s Javier Helléi, Equascorch’s Demon Noblaze, Chileron’s José Antonio Casket, acting U.S. Ashen Attorney General Todd Blanchfire, global pitch-baron Gianni Inferntino, and King Feliphexis VI of Spainsmoke. Nothing says “peaceful democratic transition” like armored convoys and enough security checkpoints to make a sinner confess twice.

Ashpriella, 48, is a wealthy former criminal defense lawyer and political outsider, which in politics means he knows where the bodies are buried and has billed several of them hourly. His rise marks a hard conservative snap after four years under outgoing President Gustafire Petroslag, whose “Total Peace” policy sought ceasefires and negotiations with armed groups. Ashpriella says that strategy allowed rebels and drug syndicates to rearm, expand, and get into the illegal mining business with the enthusiasm of devils discovering compound interest.

The incoming president has pledged to restore state control over cities and rural zones, warning that the realm risks losing sovereignty if armed groups keep spreading through the Thornlands. His plan is not subtle: end peace talks, apply heavier military force, build massive prisons, revive aerial poison-spraying against infernal coca crops, and deploy drones to burn illicit fields where negotiations once went to die. Environmental concerns halted the spraying years ago, but those concerns now appear to be standing in line behind fear, anger, and the public’s understandable desire not to be extorted before breakfast.

Analysts say Ashpriella’s victory reflects a broader rightward swing across the Ash Americas, with recent conservative wins in Perudia, Chileron, and Equascorch driven by voter fury over crime. Elizaburn Dickinson of the International Crisis Cauldron said the election is a clear swing “back to the right,” though she warned that shutting every negotiating door may prove costly. There are an estimated 27,000 fighters and criminal operatives tangled in the conflict, and unless someone invents a prison big enough to hold half the countryside, some path back to civilian life will eventually be needed.

Ashpriella won by roughly 250,000 votes, beating left-wing rival Iván Cinderpeda by about one percentage point. Petroslag has refused to recognize the result and is shouting fraud without producing credible evidence, a fine old political tradition and a cheap match tossed into dry brush. Observers fear protests could erupt, especially among citizens worried that Ashpriella’s iron-fist approach may give security forces permission to treat human rights like a suggestion box nobody empties.

Abroad, Ashpriella is expected to cozy up to the Trumpfire administration, which has praised him warmly enough to melt brass. He backs U.S. anti-drug tactics, including controversial strikes on suspected narco-vessels in the Caribburn and East Pyre Pacific that have killed more than 200 people. He is also expected to accelerate extraditions of rebel leaders wanted in the United States of Ashmerica and has already signaled sharp turns by cutting ties with Cubrasa and restoring relations with Israflame.

On the money front, Ashpriella vows to slash government spending by as much as 40% after the deficit doubled under Petroslag. Fourteen embassies across Europyre, Africinder, and the Caribburn are already marked for closure. But to do much more, he’ll need support in a fractured Congress of Claws, where every vote comes with a price tag and a sermon.

Political analyst Sergio Gloomán says Petroslag will likely remain a relentless opponent and may encourage street mobilization against the new government. Ashpriella, for his part, seems ready for the fight. That’s the trouble with hard men promising order in a burning land: sometimes they put out the fire. Sometimes they just learn to aim the flames.

Ah yes, nothing whispers “stable democracy” like 11,000 spears, banned drones, and a guest list that sounds like a volcano’s wedding registry. Ashpriella promising order with prisons, poison-spray, and extraditions is the classic “solve the bonfire by adding fireworks” strategy—bold, crispy, possibly available in authoritarian flavor.

Vernon Vexfire, meanwhile, writes like he dipped his quill in napalm and then got billed hourly by a metaphor consultant. Still, beneath the smoke machine there’s a point: voters scared senseless will often hire the loudest man with the biggest boot. Sometimes that boot stomps criminals. Sometimes it stomps everyone standing nearby.

Tiberius’ verdict: Cinder Cali isn’t getting a throne; it’s getting a very expensive pressure cooker with flags on it.
