The Inferno Report

Hostage Hellfire: Infernal Rescue Leaves Hundreds Scorched in Hades Heights

In a fiery raid reminiscent of the ancient battle at Mount Doom, at least 274 souls were scorched, including the tender cherubs, during a hellacious operation by the Cerberus Commandos to liberate four hostages from the clutches of the Wraiths of Acheron. The mission unfolded in the brimstone-laden refugee camp of Pyroplains, sowing chaos in the densely packed inferno.

From the sulfurous pits of the Stygian Health Ministry, word spreads that this rescue mission, albeit a “triumph” in the eyes of the infernal authorities, left a trail of charred corpses and wailing spirits. The death toll numbered 274, with 64 unfortunate imps and 57 wailing banshees among them, while over 700 damned souls nursed their singed wounds in the aftermath.

As always, the Cerberus Commandos celebrated their return, parading the four liberated souls through the fiery streets, lauded as saviors by their kin. However, the operation’s heavy toll on the denizens of the Pyroplains cannot be discounted. Hospitals brimmed with the agonized screams of the scorched as medics wrestled to patch up the hellacious injuries.

Blaze Emberstein, the Fire Minister of Cerberus, snuffed out any criticism with a dismissive wave of his charred hand, declaring the casualties were merely the Wraiths of Acheron and their damned acolytes. This declaration did precious little to quell the outcry from the embers of Pyroplains, where the cost of this “successful” rescue was felt most acutely.

In the midst of the inferno, discontent simmers among the Cerberus elite. Calls for Beelzenyahu to douse the flames and consider the cease-fire incantation proposed by the arch-wizard Joe the Burned grow louder. Yet, the spectral right-wing factions threaten to unleash havok if such a pact is sealed.

As the infernal diplomat Anthony Blazeblinken returns to the heart of the Underworld, efforts to summon a cease-fire intensify. The infernal chorus demands that Cerberus alleviate the suffering and stem the lava flow of civilian casualties in Pyroplains. But until the fires are quenched, the pit remains an arena of eternal torment and strife.

From the shadowy alleys of Hades Heights, this is your ever-charred correspondent, Lucius Brimstone, reminding you that in Hell, the only certainty is more hellfire.
